I wouldn't. Tango isn't a standardised dance, but is a way of dancing in an improvisatory way in the embrace of a partner.

Various attempts have been made to dumb it down (it's difficult too) and simplify its principles, but the results are usually laughable. One to leave well alone. You can't teach someone to dance tango with video clips. You can show them a woeful pastiche of the dance, but there's no point in that!

I disagree! LOL As a (recently turned!) 50 year old grandmother with MS, I found the Argentine Tango MUCH easier to learn than WC Swing, the Viennese Waltz etc - The only thing I found easier was Two-Step, but it could be because of my Aggie undergrad. LOL

Seriously, I would love to see video, to act as a "refresher". I would also be interested to know if anyone has ever tried dancing the Argentine Tango to Alannah Myles' version of Black Velvet - sounds/feels like it might be a good match but then, I am no dance instructor!

Both you and Telemark are right. Its not that hard to START to learn AT,
however very hard to get it so you're good. Also I know three different
footworks(?) for going/leading into a back ocho. That kind of thing would drive a follower crazy in ballroom and is much more unexpected in ballroom that AT
